The Edition promises something special

It’s been one of the most talked about hotel openings of the year, and finally the Waikiki Edition hotel in Hawaii officially opens today.

Located on the island of Oahu, the hotel was created by Ian Schrager – the man behind the original boutique hotel concept – and Marriott International.

Set in its own private oasis near the famous Waikiki surfer beach, the 353 rooms and suites are luxurious and modern. The interior reflects the hotel’s natural surroundings, with a decor of natural colours, organic fibres and rich woods.

Each room has oversized windows and many have their own terraces with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. For those who want to splash out, there is the 1,500 sq ft penthouse suite, which comes with original artwork, a private dining room and library and an equally large wraparound landscaped terrace.

Upon entering the hotel guests will see a dramatic, wall-to-wall surfboard installation, by artist and former professional surfer Herbie Fletcher, which has been made from over 100 collected, broken surfboards from surfing professionals.

Other highlights of the hotel include food by chef Masaharu Morimoto, who is serving up his fusion of Western and Japanese cuisine. Guests can sample signature dishes such as Toro Tartare with Osetra caviar.

The hotel also offers surf and bikini boot camps, yoga classes, biking and hiking, with trainers on hand to provide individual fitness programs to help guests get beach body perfect.
