Aristocratic wine-tasting in Italy

The ultra-luxurious 15th-century Il Salviatino hotel in Florence is offering a new and exclusive wine-tasting experience – but hurry, it’s only available until the end of the month. The behind-the-scenes tour lets guests go off the beaten track at some of the region’s most famous wineries, and has been specially created by experts at Il Salviatino.

A former family villa, the elegant hotel (which featured in this year’s hot list) – is situated on the slopes of Fiesole – a favourite of the Florentine aristocracy.

For a limited time only, visitors will be given unprecedented access to some of the region’s most prestigious and private wineries. Hosted by a dedicated guide, guests will tour the elite estates of the Chianti-shire region and will even take part in the wine-making process.

At the end of the day, those on the tour will get to sample a selection of local wines and indulge in a gourmet Tuscan feast. Finally, after a hard day’s wine-tasting, guests can relax back at the hotel at the beautiful Devarana spa.

Available until 30 September, the package is for two people and costs €2,600. For more information: (0039 055 904 1111);
