Effortless poolside glamour from Roksanda Ilincic

Roksanda Ilincic – The Serbian-born, London-based designer – whose catwalk designs are often reminiscent of Yves Saint Laurent’s work in the 70’s – has taken inspiration from East African Kai Tribes to produce her debut swimwear collection.

Beautifully cut in the most luxurious fabrics, the collection features a range of edgy one shoulder, halterneck and strapless suits, with cut-out detail throughout.

“The strong shapes of this collection are inspired by the incredible body decoration from that [East Africa] region,” explains Ilincic, “they feature dramatic sculptural shapes, strong lines and a colour palette of black and sand.”

The launch of a swimwear line has been a natural progression for me, says Ilincic, “The pieces have the same attention to detail and design that can be found on my mainline. Swimsuits are fully lined, reversible and finished with a lace or raw edge hem.”

Supported by Fashion East’s Lulu Kennedy – who has helped launch the careers of Gareth Pugh, Holly Fulton and Louise Goldin – Ilincic gained international acclaim and has shown at London Fashion Week for the past three years.

The collection will be carried exclusively by Harvey Nichols, retailing between ?210 and ?425.
