New art district for Paris

Le Royal Monceau – Raffles Paris will unveil a new exhibition space this week: Art District, which will showcase four major installations each year.

The first show in the space will be The Feast of Trimalchio, by Russian Collective artists AES+F. The exhibition celebrates the ‘artistic exchanges between France and Russia’ through a series of photographs. And the film detailing the initial project – shown at the 53rd Venice Biennale – can be seen at the hotel’s Le Cinema des Lumieres.

Other artworks will extend into La Librairie des Arts, a space featuring over 700 books on art, design and architecture. And, further cementing Monceau’s position as a hotel dedicated to art in Paris, an art concierge will be on hand to recommend galleries and places of cultural interest to guests.

Since its re-opening last year, the hotel has become a meeting place for creative minds – hardly surprising given that the interiors were designed by Philippe Starck – and is located a short walk from the Artcurial, Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Elysees.
