Coppola’s suite talk in Milan

A new film by Sofia Coppola, Somewhere, has used the Dorchester Collection’s The Principe di Savoia hotel in Milan as one of its two main locations.

Released in the UK last week, the film tells the story of a bad-boy actor Johnny Marco played by Stephen Dorff, pictured, who has to revaluate his life when his 11-year-old daughter turns up unexpectedly.

In the film, father and daughter spend time in the Presidential Suite at The Principe di Savoia. The suite, located on the panoramic 10th floor of the hotel, is over 500 square metres and consists of three bedrooms, including the sumptuous Presidential Room, a large and elegant dining room and a spacious living room featuring large windows that open onto a terrace with panoramic views of the city and, on a clear day, the distant snow-capped mountains.

The film also features the Presidential Suite’s impressive private Spa. Pompeian in style, the Spa has frescoed walls and a vaulted ceiling encompassing a swimming pool (20 square metres), whirlpool, sauna and Turkish bath which also offers stunning panoramic views of Milan and even the Alps on a clear day.
