Istanbul’s new luxury hotel plans to guide you through the city’s burgeoning cultural scene.

If you’ve always wanted to have a go at time travel but never got your DeLorean working, just take a walk through Istanbul. Stroll through the Old City of Sultanahmet, with its traditional bazaars and you’re re-visiting the past. But wander round the Zorlu Center, the ultra-modern metropolis for food, fashion, and the arts and you’ll feel like you’ve been zapped into the future. Opened last year, it towers above the rest of the city, full of Avatar-style greenery.

At the heart of this high-tech public hub is Raffles Istanbul, a new hotel due to open this autumn. Like its sister hotel Le Royal Monceau – Raffles Paris, Raffles Istanbul is fixated on the arts, filling its spaces with its own collection of specially commissioned paintings, sculpture, photography, and video installations.

Not only will guests be immersed with art inside the hotel, but they will also be provided with their own Jeeves-style art concierge to guide them through the impressive cultural offerings of the city, including the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art, and the contemporary art space SALT.

Raffles Istanbul opens on 1 September 2014 ( Doubles from €600.
