Art collectors head to Miami

Prominent art collectors from all over the world will be heading to the prestigious art fair Art Basel in Miami this December.

The exclusive show opens its doors on December 2 – with a private viewing for a select few the day before – and is expected to attract over 40,000 visitors. This year the exhibition welcomes 250 galleries from 29 countries, which will be showcasing work from over 2,000 artists that includes paintings drawing, sculptures, installations, photography and videos.

The cultural scenes of Berlin, Detroit, Glasgow, and Mexico City will be highlighted in this year’s Oceanfront exhibition. In addition, Miami’s leading private collections – such as the Rubell Family Collection – will also be open to Art Basel guests.

The museums of South Florida will be showcasing exciting exhibitions such as ‘Nick Cave: Meet Me at the Center of the Earth’ at the Norton Museum and ‘Seduce Me,’ a collaboration by Isabella Rossellini, Andy Byers, and Rick Gilbert at the Wolfsonian-FIU.

For those who are keen to buy an exclusive art work, prices range from a few hundred dollars – for multiples by young artists – to several million dollars for museum-quality masterpieces.
