EasyJet launches flights to Russia

EasyJet has announced it will now fly between London’s Gatwick airport and Moscow’s Domodedovo airport from March 18 this year. The news looks set to shake up prices on the route, with return tickets costing as little as ?118 in September on certain dates according to our research – some ?100 cheaper than the competition.

In July, a popular time for visiting Russia, return trip prices can still be found for ?135 (when prokokos.com made searches today, January 17). There will of course be additional costs, such as for luggage, choosing your own seat, and a booking fee. Advertised prices start as low as ?47.49 one-way.

However, EasyJet has proved a formidable force in shorthaul flights around Europe, and the extension of its business into Russia shows it has a formula fit for expansion while many other airlines are finding the economic climate difficult. There can be a wide range of prices available on any EasyJet flight, with significant benefits to booking early.

EasyJet’s customers, many of whom may be more familiar with trips to Malaga rather than Moscow, are reminded that a travel visa is required for almost all visitors to Russia.
