Safari for less in Tanzania

Safari for less in Tanzania

Going on an African safari in wildlife-rich Tanzania is a rewarding – and exciting – holiday experience, and, thanks to the launch of The Selous Safari Company’s new bush-to-beach package this week, it is now more affordable than ever before.

The luxury group has devised a series of customisable seven- and nine-day holidays designed to take travellers from the heart of Africa’s largest game reserve, to the shimmering calm of the Indian Ocean during the high-season at discounted low-season prices.

Those who book a holiday with The Selous Safari Company before March 2011 could benefit from savings of up to ?800 on their luxury safari experience. Guests may choose from a stay at the stunning 13-tent Selous Safari Camp in the scenic Selous Games Reserve, living in comfort during the evening and spotting the zebras, elephants, lions and giraffes that populate the surrounding bush during the daytime on a series of thrilling games drives. Or, they may select the more remote – yet equally stylish – accommodation of the Jongomero Camp in the Ruaha National Park: the eight en-suite raised tents come complete with private verandas and provide excellent vantage points for night-time nature-spotting. Travellers may also choose to trek to Tanzania’s pristine coastline for a relaxing stay at the Ras Kutani boutique beach resort.

Tour operators Tanzania Odyssey (020 7471 8780; are offering a three-night stay at the Selous Safari Camp with a further four-night stay at the Ras Kutani beach retreat from ?2,705 per person, and a nine-night package from ?4,215 per person. Prices include flights from Heathrow to Dar Es Salaam, full-board accommodation and all games drives.
