Rejuvenate on a yoga retreat

Established as a world leader for yoga breaks, Como Hotels & Resorts has attracted some of the most renowned yoga teachers to its properties. Now, Elena Brower – founder and co-owner of Virayoga in New York and Global Yoga Ambassador for Adidas – will lead a retreat at Parrot Cay in the picturesque Caribbean.

It will relax your mind, energise your body and rejuvenate your soul

Brower believes in a blend of active and contemplative practice; her students will attend twice daily Anusara classes comprising asana, pranayama and meditation. Her carefully selected practices are designed to develop a state of alertness, guiding students to refine their physical form as well as enhance their inner self.

“The Caribbean is the ideal setting for yoga break because it provides the perfect backdrop for physical, mental and spiritual transformation,” says Andrea Scarborough, resident yoga teacher at Parrot Cay. “The ocean, beaches, sunrises and magical sunsets bring you right in touch with nature and its rhythms. It will relax your mind, energise your body and rejuvenate your soul.”

Scarborough says: “A yoga class in the city is typically 1.5 hours which, while beneficial, does not allow enough time to fully explore the multitude of the benefits of yoga. A week-long retreat allows the participants to delve further into their asana practice, including alignment and modifications for specific poses.”

The retreat takes place from 24-30 October 2010. Prices start from ?4000 per person, including flights, with Wellbeing Escapes (0845 602 6202;
