Nature Discovery Centre for Caribbean

The new Nature Discovery Centre at Amanyara Villas, will put Turks and Caicos on the scientific map, thanks to new activities designed by New York’s Museum of Natural History.

Aimed at families, the programmes include scavenger hunts, turtle nesting site conservation tours and eco hikes. Resident naturalist Lindsay Mensen will be leading the activities, taking guests kayaking, snorkelling and diving to learn about the secrets of the ocean, as well as giving in-villa classes.

Mensen has been studying local flora and fauna on the islands for the past four years, and the new centre will give her the opportunity to share her findings with guests. She’ll take explorers on trails to observe the island’s inhabitants, and to unspoilt beaches and coral reefs. And guests with particular interests can request individual personalised classes.

Amanyara is surrounded by an 18,000-acre nature preserve, so there’s plenty for guests to explore on foot. And the waters off the coastline are home to humpack whales, eagle rays, manta rays, turtles and whale sharks.

Amanyara regularly invites guest speakers to the resort for evening discussions and stargazing sessions. To find out more visit Rental prices start from ?4,666 per Villa, per night, excluding tax. Prices for one-on-one sessions with Lindsay are available upon request.
