Explore the marine life of Oman

Explore the marine life of Oman

Thanks to the new Dive Centre at Six Senses Zighy Bay, travellers can now discover some of the world’s best diving – in Oman.

Located just down the beach from the resort, the centre offers courses in SSI/CMAS and PADI as well as Discovery courses for beginners, lead by husband and wife team Esther and Petzi, who between them have racked up over 13,000 dives and know the area well.

Divers are taken to the best dive sites in the relatively undiscovered Musandam Peninsula (don’t expect to see many other divers), including Ras Claudia and Lima Rock. Here, in the clear, warm waters, a variety of hard and soft coral teems with life, and whale sharks, eagle rays and sea turtles glide through the deeper waters.

Non-divers can explore the waters aboard the 16.7 meter, 6 berth Atlantis 55 yacht, which they can take to secluded beaches and Omani villages accessible only by boat. And snorkelers can find an abundance of smaller marine life right on the beach.

Separated from the rest of Oman by the United Arab Emirates, and only 90 minutes from Dubai airport, Six Senses Zighy Bay is the ultimate hideaway. Tucked away behind the dramatic Hajar Mountains, eighty two villas, each with private pool, blend seamlessly into the dramatic backdrop, and face the 1.6km sandy beach.

Carrier (0161 492 1358; www.carrier.co.uk) offers 5 nights for the price of 3 (saving ?1,790 per couple!) at Six Senses Zighy Bay from ?1,240 per person on a half board basis (based on departures between 2 – 6 July). Price includes flights with Emirates from London Heathrow to Dubai and private transfers. Valid 01 May – 29 Aug and 02 – 30 Sep 2011.
