New York gets ready for the Tribeca Film Festival

The Tribeca Film Festival is set to light up the streets of lower Manhattan when it commences for the ninth time this month, showcasing the very best new feature films, documentaries and short narratives the industry has to offer.

The festival – which was founded by Robert de Niro in 2002 – is one of the largest celebrations of film in the world, and will feature a wide range of works from both big-time film directors and independent names.

Audiences will also have the opportunity to grill some of their favourite directors and actors about their newest films in a series of Q&A sessions led by expert curators. Actress Jessica Alba and filmmaker Sebastian Copeland are scheduled to appear after the premiere of their newest film, the feature documentary Climate of Change. Comedian and actress Joan Rivers will also be making an appearance, sharing exciting stories on her five-decade career after the airing of documentary Joan Rivers – A Piece of Work.

The festival starts from the 21 April to 2 May 2010, and is a great cultural addition to a New York holiday itinerary. For a full list of films and to buy tickets to the event, visit:
