Grill celebrity chefs at the UK’s first cooking festival

Budding gourmands will have the chance to grill some of the UK’s most renowned celebrity chefs for their tricks of the trade as they host as series of live demos at the Love Cooking Festival later this year.

Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, Gary Rhodes, Rachel Allen and Rick Stein will all be hosting live audiences at Britain’s first festival to celebrate the art of cooking, travelling across the UK to demonstrate their most famous dishes and newest creations, as well as sharing their thoughts on food during Q&A sessions.

“We have some of the best food in the world, the best producers and ingredients and still we don’t respect it like our European counterparts,” celebrity chef James Martin – who will also be demonstrating at the festival – tells “Local producers are some of the hardest working people I know and we need to support them, work with them and make sure they are around for generations to enjoy.”

Far from sticking to house-hold names, the event will also be a platform to show-off some of Britain’s more camera-shy cooking talents. Martin, the presenter of popular BBC show Saturday Kitchen, shares who he is most excited to see during the festival:

“Richard Corrigan and Mark Hix are fantastic chefs and I always admire what they do. Their love of local, seasonal produce with a simple and different twist tastes great. They will be doing a demo together along with Oz Clarke at the London Love Cooking event.”

Martin concludes: “There aren’t just chefs demoing. I love the idea that people can learn at the many demo schools at the show too. This is a first and should be great for people to enjoy.”

The Love Cooking Festival kicks off from 5 October 2010 in Bristol, followed by further dates in Edinburgh and London, with a final Christmas show in Harrogate.

Tickets are available now, and range from ?25 per session, up to ?100 for a day pass, which includes free gifts and book signings as well as a complimentary final show.
