The Danube Express creates new train adventures

Luxury train operator the Danube Express has announced two new rail adventures in response to unexpected demand for their exciting holidays.

The successful hotel-on-wheels has experienced a surge in bookings for 2010, leading to the creation of the Istanbul Loop and the Transylvanian Return – both of which promise to plunge passengers into the breathtaking surroundings of Eastern Europe.

Guests aboard the Istanbul Loop leave from London St Pancras and enjoy two nights in Budapest before being whisked off to Transylvania to explore the much-fabled birthplace of Dracula. Guests are then taken high into the Carpathian Mountains and rural Bulgaria, passing through the ancient cities of Veliko Turnovo and Kazanlak before arriving in this year’s European City of Culture, Istanbul. After a night’s stay, the journey loops round, passing back through Bulgaria and into Serbia before inviting guests to spend a further night in Budapest’s four-star Hotel Astoria.

The nine-day Transylvanian Return starts in Istanbul and rushes through rural Bulgaria, up into the Carpathians and the stunning Transylvanian countryside before finishing in Budapest. Highlights include two half-day excursions in Bulgaria and a further two in Romania to explore the legend of Dracula.
