Fashionistas gather at the Great Sale

The 2011 Great Singapore Sale will see fashion enthusiasts and sale-lovers flock to Singapore for the world’s largest sale of fashion and luxury goods.

Running from this week until the 24th of July, the eight-week sale will allow travellers and shopaholics the chance to save up to 70% off retail prices as well as enjoying tax-free rates for tourists.

Stretching from Orchard Road and Marina Bay to Southern Waterfront and the suburbs, the sale includes some of the world’s best discounts and promotions on offer including shopping centres, department stores, designer stores, restaurants, spas and hotels. The recently opened mall ION Orchard on the Orchard Road belt means that this year the sale will feature an extra 66,000sq meters of retail space, including Dior Homme, Louis Vuitton and Diane von Furstenberg as well as high-street favourites Topshop and Mango.

The 2010 Great Singapore Sale saw retail sales hit $5.3 billion for June and July and received over 2 million visitors. This year’s sales are expected to be even bigger.

Shoppers will also have the chance to win a number of coveted prizes, including a shopping holiday to Singapore or over $2,500USD worth of goods from Multimedia Integrated.

New for 2011 is the Great Singapore Sale Challenge where shoppers have to guess the sale price of selected merchandise from each of the participating malls to win $5,000USD worth of prizes.
