A new Chapter for British hotels

The Montpelier Chapter Hotel opens its doors this week in a chic part of Cheltenham and just a short drive away from The Cotswolds.

Created by Swire, the team behind The Opposite House in Beijing and The Upper House in Hong Kong, the new property belongs to the Chapter Hotels brand and is a contemporary take on the boutique hotel.

The 61-room hotel is a Grade II listed building and has undergone a complete transformation, while retaining original Victorian features, such as high ceilings. The hotel also includes a crescent-shaped wing and an inner courtyard, which is surrounded by coloured glass.

Inside the hotel guests will find modern and classic features in muted tones and colours, with oak flooring and bespoke designer furniture completing the look. The hotel also boasts a large art collection, which comprises of 160 works by leading contemporary artists and has been curated by Central St Martin’s College of Art and Design.

For an added touch of luxury, there are also 3G iPod touches in each room and wine lists displayed on iPads in the restaurant, where guests will have the chance to sample British favourites.
