In the footsteps of Karl Lagerfeld

In the footsteps of Karl Lagerfeld

We track the holiday hotspots and hotels around the world of fashion fabulosity Karl Lagerfeld, from Paris to Singapore. This is how to holiday in style…

Villa La Vigie, Monaco
This large, six-bedroom villa, an homage to the era when Lagerfeld was twice the man he is now, was restored and lived in by the designer in the 1990s. It’s now available to rent from about ?22,480 per week.

Hotel Metropole, Monte-Carlo
Lagerfeld’s overhaul of the pool and terrace at this Riviera classic (pictured) resulted in a large mural that reflects his individual monochrome style. And his interest in Ulysses.

Trevi Fountain, Rome
Fashion is coming to the rescue of this crumbling attraction as Lagerfeld (through Fendi) is funding its restoration. Look out for an exhibition of his own photos of the fountain and a new Paris shop from the brand.

Sofitel So, Singapore
This soon-to-open hotel has enlisted Lagerfeld to design its emblem. His Teutonic influence as ‘signature designer’ is likely to make the emblazoned objets (stationery? napkins?) imminently pilferable.

Metiers d’Art, Dallas
The Lagerfeld circus will roll into the Texan city in December for Chanel’s annual, and now legendary, fashion showcase, the Metiers d’Art. Expect oil billionaires, models and a heady dose of Southern drama.
