Could you be an Insider at W London?

In true W style, the non-conformist brand has announced a reality-style recruitment drive for the W Insider positions at its forthcoming hotel in London’s Leicester Square.

W is inviting applicants to visit their recruitment site where they will be asked a variety of questions relating to fashion, entertainment and design. Shortlisted applicants will then be asked to complete live tasks judged by a panel composed of Jay Alexander, star of America’s Next Top Model, David Waddington, co-owner of East London restaurant Bistrotheque, and Libby Sellers, a guerrilla design gallery owner.

We want our insider to have an overview of the alternative gallery scene as much as they do about bars and restaurants

“Notting Hill may not be the coolest and hippest part of town but our insider should still be able to recommend a credible activity within this area,” says Kevin Rockey, the hotel’s General Manager. “It’s about getting under the skin of the city but that doesn’t necessarily mean they have to be Londoners. We want our insider to have an overview of the alternative gallery scene as much as they do about bars and restaurants.”

The concierge-meets-guest-relations role at the new hotel will be filled by the two winners who have shown that they have the contacts to get guests front row seats or into the most happening launches.

Waddington is looking for culturally-aware applicants that know the city inside-out: “They go out every-night, they know duchesses and drag queens, they can get a table on Friday at 8pm anywhere, and their parties always finish the next day. They watched Leigh Bowery, can dance like Michael Clark, attend recitals at the Barbican and understand the cultural significance of Cheryl Cole. They can tell you what’s hot and who’s where and who they’re with on a Tuesday. Culturally, their references need to be broad, high and low, and they need to be aware of major events internationally. They attend first nights, openings, and visit new restaurants and bars within the first two weeks of opening.”
