Live like an Inuit on an Austrian glacier

Design retreat Mavida Balance Hotel & Spa at the heart of the Austrian Alps in Zell am See has launched a new deal that gives guests the chance to sample the life of an Inuit by staying in an igloo for a night.

As part of an exclusive new VOLVO Ice Camp program, guests can spend either a three- or six-night stay at the luxury hotel, plus a further night out on the Kitzsteinhorn glacier.

Skilfully crafted out of 60 tonnes of ice, four main inter-connecting igloos on the glacier make up the camp, which consists of an ice-bar, an ice-lounge and an ice-dining area complete with two giant tables made of – you guessed it – ice. While there, guests can take part in a range of winter sports activities before spending the night on a bed made entirely out of ice and snow in an igloo.

Rates start from around ?496 per person based on a three-night stay in Mavida and one night at the Ice Camp.
