New hotel Alpina Dolomites Gardena Health Lodge and Spa in Italy looks set to be the perfect spot for any skier wishing to combine luxury spa accommodation with great skiing.

Set to open this December, and located right in the heart of the Dolomites mountain range, the five-star hotel is situated on the Alpe di Siusi – one of largest high-altitude plateaus in Europe.

The 56-room hotel offers guests eight different types of accommodation, from double rooms to large suites, with each one boasting spectacular views of the surrounding mountains.

Avid skiers will be pleased to note that the hotel is directly on the slopes of the Dolomiti Superski circuit, which has 460 ski lifts and over 1000km of pistes. There are also qualified ski instructors on hand for beginners or for those who want hone their more advanced skills.

After a hard day skiing, guests can relax in the indoor and outdoor swimming pools or head to the health spa, to revive tired limbs. Guests can try the tepidarium-style herbal bio-saunas – which allow users to adjust heat, moisture and lighting settings – and the aromatic steam baths. The hotel also offers bespoke health programmes for guests who want to boost their immune systems.

“We had a real challenge when we decided to open a stylish new hotel, as the area already has such a reputation for fantastic hotels. And many of them already have great access the slopes and stellar spas,” says general manager of the Alpina Dolomites Gardena Health Lodge and Spa, Hugo Bernardi.

“Having found a spot for our property right on the slopes of Europe’s largest high-altitude plateau and adding vast mountain-view rooms and a spa with treatments and products that will actually enhance guests’ health, we believe we’ve found the recipe to meet that challenge.”

As for food, guests can choose from the four restaurants and bars located in the resort, sure to satisfy any taste with their mix of Mediterranean style food. There is also the mountain lodge and bar, which has floor-to-ceiling windows and chalet-style wooden floors, and a suave cigar lounge.
