The shows must go on

The world’s supermodels, trendsetters and editors of the top glossies will descend upon the capital for a celebration of fashion every September.

During London Fashion Week (LFW), this year held 14-18 September, designers will unveil their Spring/Summer 2013 collection at locations all over the city, dictating next summer’s hottest trends, and will be watched by the industry’s elite.

It’s not all glitz and glamour, though that’s hard to believe. There are the late-night parties followed by early starts, hard-to-find shows in far-flung corners of the city, endless delays (traffic jams, prima donna designers, more traffic jams) to contend with – and there’s never enough coffee. To relieve some of the ‘stress’, LFW’S official hotel partner, The May Fair Hotel, has launched the Fashion Week Treats package for fashionistas staying any time during 13-23 September 2012.

The package includes an overnight stay in either a superior or deluxe room with breakfast, ‘Cocktails and Cupcakes’ (we like the sound of the caramel espresso martini) at Ottoman Empire-inspired restaurant Quince to refuel between shows, and 20 per cent off 60-minute treatments at the spa. Express spa treatments are also on offer; the 30-minute facial (?55) is a much-needed pick-me-up.

The hotel itself has a fashion-focus, with the gloriously fuchsia Schiaparelli suite (pictured), inspired by Elsa Schiaparelli, taking centre stage. Past LFW guests include Carine Roitfeld, former Editor of French Vogue, Scott Schumann, aka the Sartorialist, and Kate Lanphear, Style Director of Elle (USA).

Fashion Week Treats costs from ?235.88. To book contact The May Fair Hotel, Stratton Street, London W1 (020 7629 7777;
