Luxury hotel opens on the dock of the bay

Rhode Island’s newest boutique hotel Forty 1? North – which opened earlier this month – has quickly become one of the country’s premier marine destinations for cool and casual luxury.

The hotel has also paved the way for the revival of the Newport area with its chic and stylish ambiance, which is described as the ultimate modern complement to the historic harbor town.

On a stay in one of the 24 guestrooms and suites, guests are treated to sweeping views of Newport Harbor and Thames Street, through the floor-to-ceiling windows and over-sized balconies.

The hotel has also been given LEED status – leadership in energy and environmental design – as it uses pre-loaded iTouches and iPads uploaded with daily newspapers, saving over 700 pounds of paper each year.

However, those who might be sailing and just want to stop off for the night can also benefit from the facilities at Forty 1? North. The marina – which is custom-built – can hold yachts of up to 250 feet and offers a range of tailored conveniences like dockside dining, a concierge, wash-downs, laundry and complimentary wi-fi.

Later on visitors can enjoy a meal at one of the hotel’s restaurants, the Grill – offering an upscale dining experience with a focus on locally grown produce – or Christie’s – a modern eating venue, which fuses Asian and Latin cuisine.

“We believe Forty 1? North’s innovative design, state-of-the-art technology and environmentally-friendly amenities will draw visitors from around the world,” partner George Moore says. “And we are really excited for Newport to be the home of such a progressive waterfront project.”
