Luxury hotel brings a taste of the Havana to Paris

The luxurious Hotel Lutetia is giving guests a taste of Cuba in the heart of Paris, as it celebrates the launch of a brand-new Havana-themed cigar lounge this week.

The historic hotel, which was recently redesigned by fashion designer Sonia Rykiel, has transformed its former grill room into a traditional Cuban fumoir called ‘The Kitchen’, where after-dinner guests are free to savor the fine tastes of a top quality Havana cigar in warm and welcoming surroundings.

“Throughout its 100-year history, our hotel has always embraced the idea of change,” says Jean-Luc Cousty, General Manager of Hotel Lutetia. “[We] already offered smoking guest rooms as well as a summer terrace for the Brasserie and wanted to treat its loyal clientele to a place they could call their own.”

Fitted with sumptuous leather divans and sinking armchairs, and decorated in a spectrum of sunset ochres, terracottas, and oranges, the atmosphere is guaranteed to bring a touch of the exotic into the hotel’s intimate Art Deco settings. Just a short walk away from the hotel’s gourmet restaurant, the Brasserie, and the five-star cocktail bar, it’s in an ideal position for those who wish to relax after a long and indulgent meal.

Cousty continues: “‘The Kitchen’ is a privileged spot, reserved for tobacco and cigar lovers, half-way between the Bar and the Brasserie; two highlights of Parisian life!”

The historical Hotel Lutetia boasts 230 individually-decorated rooms and 60 junior suites, each one studded with paintings and sculptures donated from famous artist guests such as Arman, Max Le Verrier and Thierry Bisch. With views of the Eiffel Tower and the famous Bon Marche department store, the hotel’s central location makes it a great place for first-time visitors who wish to explore the city.
