New contemporary hotel and Design Hotels member, Nobis Hotel, is set to open this December in the heart of Stockholm, Sweden.

The 201-room hotel is located in two historic 19th-century buildings in Norrmalmstorg square. Inside, guests will find elegant interiors created by world-renowned architect and design trio, Claesson Koivisto Rune. The leading designers took their inspiration from Sweden’s wintry colours and have completed the rooms in a toned-down palette, to give the feeling of being in a modern and edgy space.

Managing Director of Nobis Hotel, Claes Anerud says “Our ambition is to offer our guests a service that is truly individual and personal and which is based on real personal commitment, friendliness, knowledge and intelligence.”

Upon arrival, guests have the option of checking themselves in with their mobile phone and collecting the key for their room and safe. They can then head to one of the restaurants and bars at the hotel, which include the Caina, where guests are treated to traditional Italian fare, the 24/7 Bistro, open 24 hours, seven days a week. There is also the Gold Bar, which has walls covered in golden mirrors. The restaurants and bars in Nobis Hotel are also open for non-hotel guests.

Norrmalmstorg square has an intriguing history, as it was the site of a dramatic attempted bank heist in 1973 and is the origin of the psychological phenomenon, ‘Stockholm Syndrome’. During the siege, hostages at the bank felt sympathy for their captors and even defended their actions after their release.
