Rooms by the hour

Rooms by the hour

Guests can now reserve a room in London for a fraction of its usual cost, by booking it for the daytime only.

It’s certainly not the first time a hotel has offered rooms by the hour – but there is nothing seedy about the portfolio of hotels participating in the new Day Use scheme. The hotels – which are all three-, four- or five-star – are making the most of the hours in the day when many rooms lie empty.

Long-haul drivers, businesspeople and seasoned travellers craving 40 winks, or requiring somewhere private to work, can currently choose from a number of properties in and around London to use for up to seven hours. As well as the room, day guests get full use of the facilities.

Hotels available include the boutique Beaufort Hotel, around the corner from Harrods in Knightsbridge, which is charging ?150 instead of the overnight rate of ?250. Another is the stylish and minimalist Town Hall Hotel in the East End, which has double rooms for ?119, reduced from ?221.
