Investigate tea at Brown’s hotel

This year, 90 years after Agatha Christie wrote her first novel, the best-selling author would have celebrated her 120th birthday. To celebrate, Rocco Forte’s Brown’s Hotel – believed to be the inspiration for At Bertram’s Hotel is inviting guests to a special Christie-themed afternoon tea available available from 12-19 September.

In a career that spanned more than half a century the prolific writer wrote 80 novels and Christie’s play The Mousetrap remains the longest-running show in theatrical history.

Set in Brown’s English Tea Room, guests can enjoy novel-inspired treats such as Death on the Nile cake, The Clocks macaroons, The Red Signal raspberry cream and Evil Under the Sun lemon tartlet, along with a selection of sandwiches and scones.

Die-hard fans will want to head to the hotel on Sunday 19 September, when tea will be offered as part of a literary event hosted by author of Agatha Christie’s Secret Notebooks, John Curran. Guests will get a signed copy of Curran’s book and also a signed copy of Agatha Christie: An Autobiography by Mathew Prichard.
