BA jets to fly on biofuel by 2014

British Airways will fly all its jets on biofuel made from London’s rubbish by 2014, the airline revealed this week.

Together with US bio-energy company Solena, the airline is planning to open Europe’s first jet fuel plant, which will convert domestic and industrial rubbish destined for landfill sites into a carbon-neutral energy source. (more…)

Biofuel used in first passenger flight

Passengers flew on a demonstration flight partially powered by biofuel for the first time yesterday.

The Boeing 747 operated by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines took off from Amsterdam Schipol airport carrying 40 passengers, including KLM president Peter Hartman. (more…)
