We were rather hoping that the Godfather of TriBeCa would bring his Lower Manhattan style to London next; but clearly that the smart money’s on China right now, with so many glittering five-star hotels – Ritz-Carltons, Mandarin Orientals, Four Seasons – popping up all over the country that it’s impossible to keep track. Shanghai goes Indigo

Boutique hotel chain, Hotel Indigo has just opened its first property in Shanghai on the Bund. The hotel – created by leading designers HBA – is a fusion of new and old Shanghai.

Upon entering the lobby of exposed brick and polished plaster, guests will be greeted by a striking distressed raw steel ellipse sculpture, which is shaped like a ship’s funnel and studded with LED lighting. (more…)
